Tuesday picture: the Moon from the ISS

Here’s the converse to the Earthrise photo I showed a while ago: the distant Moon taken from a spacecraft orbiting the Earth. Look how much difference the atmosphere makes, blurring the wall of the Earth compared to the sharp outline of the Moon in the other photo.

This picture was taken by an astronaut on the International Space Station this May. I saw it on The Big Picture, which publishes galleries of pictures on a new theme every few days and is well worth a look.
